It has been nearly forty years since East End Cooperative Ministry, with the support of eighteen local congregations, launched its very first service: a small breakfast program at Peabody High School. In the intervening years, the agency has grown and changed, adding new programs, spinning off others that are ready to function independently, and changing programs as necessary as we continually strive to meet the needs of our community. Today our ministry is supported by more than forty member congregations, nearly 800 volunteers and a cadre of local businesses and organizations. Our program areas have grown to provide services to nearly 3,000 individuals every year in the areas of Hunger, Housing and Children and Youth.
We have been serving our community with the resources available to us—and doing it well—for almost four decades. Now it is time to look to the future: to a living mission that is grounded in principle and purpose yet always evolving to meet changing community needs, and to facilities that will serve that kind of mission for the next forty years.
Please check back soon as we move into a new phase in EECM’s ongoing development.
