Calling All Teens!

It's time once again to gear up for East End Cooperative Ministry's City Teens Project!  As in years past, we are looking for 12 motivated teens, ages 14-19, who want to make a difference in their community this summer.

City Teens commit to a minimum of 7 hours of volunteer service per week at EECM from June 23 to August 15.  Working with staff, they learn about EECM programs and what it means to help those in need.

Participants in the City Teens Project also gain valuable leadership experience.  Each summer, dozens of youth groups from across the country come to volunteer in EECM’s programs.  Our City Teens act as guides for these groups, training them, overseeing their work, and helping them to have a positive volunteer experience.

Interested teens should contact Jim Hart at 412-345-0589 or jhart@eecm.org.   Applications will be accepted May 12 – June 6.  Orientation begins June 16.

Take Our Sons & Daughters to Work Day

Thursday, May 8, 2008

Did you know that you're a role model?  Well, you are!  As a working professional, you are a role model to the hundreds of young people in our Children & Youth programs who dream of a brighter future, free from the violence, unemployment and lack of opportunity that surrounds them.

You can help them achieve their dreams!

Become a mentor for the 2008 Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day!  Every year, EECM finds adult role models for dozen of students, as our youth don't always have parents who can take them to work and many are interested in a different line of work than their parents.

It's easy -- as a mentor, you will host a young person at your workplace for one day.  That's it!  Such a small time commitment, and yet it can make such a huge impact on the life of a child.
