FINANCIAL DIRECTOR
Job Summary
The Financial Director directs and oversees all of the fiscal activities of the agency including but not limited to: analyzing cash flows, oversight and development of investment strategy, preparation of current financial reports, preparation of annual budget, preparation of all annual reports as well as summaries and forecasts for future growth and analysis of program performance. In addition, this position has the primary responsibility for designing and maintaining the accounting system. This position is expected to provide financial information to the Executive Director, Program Directors and the Board of Directors, as directed.
This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the Assistant to the Financial Director and the Fiscal Assistant.
Job Responsibilities, most but not limited to:
- Serve as member of the agency’s Management Team.
- Prepare most insurance applications for various program and agency coverages.
- Prepare financial data for proposed program contracts.
- Consult on proposed program contracts regarding financial feasibility.
- Attend meetings related to financial requirements of program contracts.
- Prepare program contract financial reports as required during the term of the contract.
- Meet with program directors to review contracts’ financial status, as needed.
- Prepare detailed monthly program financial reports for program managers, the Executive Director and Treasurer.
- Maintenance and upkeep of accounting system:
- Revise and update chart of accounts, as required.
- Review vouchers and process invoices for payment.
- Process and distribute checks.
- Process receipts for deposits.
- Make bank deposits.
- Prepare reports on a monthly basis or as needed.
- Revise and/or create new report formats, as needed.
- Process accounts receivable in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Maintain petty cash.
- Maintenance and upkeep of the payroll system.
- Track EECM investments.
- Monitor cash flow and manage transfers between various bank accounts.
- Monitor investment of unapplied government funds in separate interest bearing account.
- Prepare all external financial reports, including budget execution reports, fund requests and budget proposals (in conjunction with Executive Director and program staff).
- Ensure financial compliance with government contract requirements.
- Process reimbursements from government accounts, based on allowable expenses incurred.
- Maintain filing and archive systems.
- Track equipment and software inventories.
- Assist and coordinate audit activities.
- Provide training and indoctrination to new staff members regarding fiscal policies and procedures.
- Supervise Assistant to Financial Director and Fiscal Assistant.
Requirements
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and related not for profit experience or masters degree and any equivalent combination of experience and training and nine (9) years of experience. Candidate must have strong ethics and ability to interact with a broad range of people from different backgrounds and ethnicities. Required strong skills are:

Salary Range
Commensurate with experience, education and previous related achievements. Medical, Life, Disability, paid vacation, holidays and sick days.
