ROCK'in Results

The 2008 Reach Out to City Kids campaign is winding down.  Thank you to everyone who helped make it a huge success.  Here are the campaign results to date:

More than 150 donors made gifts totaling $14,182

This wonderful response made it possible for us to receive a

$10,000 matching gift from an anonymous friend.

This brings the total raised by the 2008 ROCK campaign to $24,182

THANK YOU!

What They're Up Against

The young people in our community face often-overwhelming challenges:

Wide-spread use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs;

Violence in their community and in their schools;

Gang influence over their daily lives;

Apathy toward school and their future;

Dysfunctional families and broken homes;

Anger at their situation and at the world.

Without help, too many of them will have bleak or uncertain futures.

What They Need

In order to rise about the challenges in their lives, our children and youth need:

Positive adult role models;

Help with goal-setting and goal-achievement;

Caring and consistent mentors;

Academic support and tutoring;

Life-skills development;

Patience, understanding, and commitment.

EECM's broad-ranging children and youth programs offer all of these things and more.  From after-school violence-prevention programs to Summer Day Camp to drug prevention education to tutoring to recreational acitivites, we strive to help the young people in our communities reach for their dreams.

We are always seeking volunteer tutors to work one-on-one with students in grades K-12.  Tutors spend one hour a week helping students with homework assigments, test preparation, and other academic skills.  If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please contact Brad Yoder or Heather Kropf at 412-361-0450.
